Did you ever just get the need to ride, of course you do or you wouldn't be looking at these ride pages. Fortunately my wonderful bride understands my needs. She knows when I am fidgety around the house and tells me its time to get on the road again. God Bless her for that. The only problem with living in Florida is that you only have two directions to go, East or North, unless you think you can go across the Ocean. So this time kinda like many of them I have no particular destination in mind. It wasn't till I was half way through Georgia that I decided to go to Arkansas and visit some of my family members.

So let this ride begin. As I have said before going from here to anywhere is the same ole view so I didn't take any pictures. First stop was New Albany Mississippi, where I got a motel room for a nice shower and a good nights rest. Then on to Jonesboro to my niece Cissy and her husband Steve. The next day we did a little yard work and I was funning around and put this picture up on facebook saying he traded his hawg in for a mower. LOL.

The next day we were off to see the local sites, but first we had to make a stop and put a new tire on the front of Steves bike. With that done, they showed me the way to Hardy a small historic town. On the way we stopped at Morgans mill, a site for a Civil War Battleground.

We had a great visit for a couple of days and now it was time to move on. I took all the back roads to Glenwood. If I had taken the normal route I could have been there in around 4 hours. As it were it took me most of the day. I had no idea that this area is the largest growers of rice in the USA. There were many fields to look at on the way down.

Here is where I get into one of the greatest things about bikers. It has happen to all of us at one time or another. I couldn't find the hwy. out of Pine Bluff to go where I wanted to go.

So I pulled over to the side under an over pass to look at the GPS and program it. I no sooner got stopped and a Mustang with two hot ladies pulled up and ask if anything was wrong. I quickly told them my problem and they said follow them and they would show me the way.

Sure enough I was only about 2 miles from where I needed to be, so I wasn't to far off track. Down the road a few miles I was sitting behind them at a stop light and they waved me up along side and invited me over for coffee. I followed them to her house where I met her husband and their friends that were down from Canada. He rides a trike and she is still on 2 wheels. It turns out that this lovely lady is Amy White author of the book Wicked Bitch. More here http://www.authorsden.com/visit/author.asp?id=105845 We sat around and BS'd and had a great visit. She is a true biker..... never leave a brother on the side of the road, a friendly and strong woman.

Ok now on to Glenwood to see more of the family. My nephew Tony and I took a small 111 mile ride around his area. The next pictures are of a Arkansas roadside rest area. LOL no there not all like this, but this one does function when you need it the most.

A little further down the road is a marker for the Caddo Indians that kicked Spanish conquistador Desoto's ass and sent him back to Spain.

Yes we got rained on, but that is just the way of biking this time of year up there. The next couple of days was allot of rain and wind so no riding, just visiting. OK now got PMS (packing my saddle bags) real bad. So off to the road again. I looked at the weather in all directions and it was bad, so I headed back to Florida.

That big storm that hit Yazoo City Mississippi had hit on Saturday 24, 2010. I thought I would run by there on the way home and take some pictures. As you can see the area was torn up pretty badly. There were so many enforcement personnel there that I was not allowed to get very close to take good pictures.

Leaving there I did what GPS users are quite familiar with. If you want to see new roads and country, then tell your GPS to chart the shortest route. It will try to take you over dirt roads, alleys, any way it can to find the shortest route. And since you don't take a Bagger on dirt you bypass that and it reconfigures the route all up and down your path. So have some fun next time and try it, but only if your not in a hurry.

I spent the night in Troy Alabama. I left there in a light rain and headed out where my mixed up GPS told me LOL. In Abbeville, Alabama I came across this Standard Oil station that blew my mind. One of the pumps showed 17 cents a gallon, but that was in another life LOL.

All in all I had a fairly safe ride. I got home in the early afternoon to find that the wife had been tracking me, and since I didn't stop she knew that I would be hungry. The burgers were on the Barby and I was ready to eat. Another ride that the good Lord protected me on.
